What Are Land Banks?

Land Banks are created to acquire, manage, maintain, and repurpose vacant, abandoned, and deteriorated properties. By doing so, they help communities increase property values and support economic development.

Land banks can be a means of acquiring blighted properties so that neighboring property values do not deteriorate. By taking on VAD properties, land banks are meant to give communities the opportunity to repurpose properties in a manner consistent with their values and needs - creating green spaces, new homes, or shovel-ready sites for future development purposes.

Mission

Our mission is to restore and repurpose vacant, abandoned, and deteriorated properties in southern Indiana, providing new opportunities for affordable housing and community development. We work closely with contractors, government partners, and local stakeholders to create spaces of commercial and residential community growth, assisting in finding a solution to housing concerns, spurring on economic development efforts, and generating positive change for the Southern Indiana Uplands region.

Vision

Our vision is to build a future where the Uplands Region is recognized for its thriving, revitalized neighborhoods, innovative redevelopment projects, and empowered communities. Through our efforts, we aim to create a model for sustainable urban renewal that supports both economic growth and social harmony.
